Guinness Beer Can 44CL

Guinness Beer Can 44CL is Guinness Draught, the stout from St. James's Gate in Dublin, where Arthur Guinness signed his famous 9,000-year lease in 1759. Most people expect a dark beer to be heavy; it may sound strange, but Guinness is only 4.2% ABV, lighter than many golden lagers.

What It Tastes Like

It pours very dark, close to black, with a ruby edge when you hold it to the light, and it is topped with a thick, creamy head. The smell is roasted barley, coffee and a little cocoa. On the palate it is smooth and soft rather than heavy; the roast gives a dry, gentle bitterness. The finish is dry and clean.

About the 44CL Can

Inside the 44CL (440ml) can there is a small plastic ball, called a widget, that releases nitrogen when you open it. This is what gives the can the same creamy head you would get in a pub. We suggest chilling the can, pouring it all at once into a big glass and waiting about a minute for it to settle before drinking.
