Amaro Montenegro 1L is an Italian herbal liqueur created in Bologna in 1885 by Stanislao Cobianchi, and named after Princess Elena of Montenegro. It is made with around 40 botanicals, and it is one of the best-loved amari in Italy; smooth, gently bitter and quite sweet.
What It Tastes Like
It is a warm amber colour. The nose has orange peel, vanilla and dried herbs. On the palate it is round and soft, with sweet citrus, a little rose and a light bitterness at the end. It is not as bitter as many amari; therefore it is a good one to start with.
