Arturo Fuente Don Carlos Robusto [1pc]
Arturo Fuente Don Carlos Robusto [1pc]
Arturo Fuente Don Carlos Robusto [1pc] is from the Fuente family, who have been making cigars since Arturo Fuente started the business in Tampa in 1912. The Don Carlos line is named after Carlos Fuente Sr., and it is made in the Dominican Republic with an aged Cameroon wrapper over Dominican binder and filler. It is one of those cigars that serious smokers keep coming back to.
How It Smokes
The Cameroon wrapper has a slightly oily, reddish-brown look and a little tooth to it. Once lit, it opens with cedar and a gentle spice; after the first third, you get cocoa, roasted nuts and a soft sweetness that Cameroon leaf is known for. It is medium to full in body, and it burns evenly if you take your time with it.
About the Robusto Size
The robusto is 5¼ inches long with a 50 ring gauge, which is a comfortable size for an evening; it is long enough to develop, but not so long that you need half the night. We would suggest a straight cut, a slow, even light, and a glass of aged rum or cognac alongside.
